Thumbs up Hide Tow Package on 78 Short.

OK start off with I was asked few question about this Image here >>>

Here Is the Question asked and My reply.

chevymotocross:

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Cueball, I like what you did with the hidden tow hitch. What hitch did you use and how did you modify?

CueBall:

friend of mine did that for me we used the Pro Series Receivers by EAZ-Lift we did little cutting and welding to tuck it up when we drop the truck 3" all around. I will take some snaps shots this weekend and get them posted up.

Now here are the Images that should answer the rest of the question...My next project with the truck is the rear end...

Ok there side view you can see where we bolt it to frame.

Angle view from the same side.

Here where we cut and weld on bed so we could drop it 3" May not look lower but it is run 17" 70s right now will be going back to 17" 40s and then you can see that its been lower.

Here view from back side of Lic plate where we cut it for chain hooks and Receiver access now your 75-76 Camaro Lic plate are all ready setup to lift up for Gas Cap They work great for Mod into your bumper for this project.

Re: Hide Tow Package on 78 Short.

I have been price the X-liner and Rhino bed liner and I look at the bed liner kits.. well I Don't need one the kit's and I won't pay what they are asking to do it. So I went bought gallon of the Rust-Oleum 4YLD3 Truck Bed Coating. You can spray it or roll it. I love to do it my self I have all ways been that way.So one my good buddy's and I sand down the bed to remove all rust and stuff The prep work all ways takes forever. We did three coats We start at 6am and we where done by 5pm so 11hours people. here are snap shots I would rate this type of project a 2½ and 5 being the most difficult. Reason for rate as 2½ is due to all sanding and cleaning to get the bed ready.

Looks great! Always like seeing creative thinking.

And just FYI if someone doesn't yet have a hitch already, a hidden hitch for the 67-72's fits real nicely in between the frame rails with just a little notching on the hitch, so there is nothing hanging below the frame.
