Can I do this with my Gauge Bezel?? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have this stock Gauge Bezel that has the hole for a choke as well as lights & wipers. But it does NOT have the holes for the optional gauges.

What I want to do, is take everything behind the old bezel, (lens, old gauges, and the center hazard lights/blinkers) and move it to a bezel with the optional gauges as pictures below that has the choke slot. What I need to know is if I can move everything from the old one, into an optional gauges bezel without using the optional gauge holes. (I'm going to put some digital gauges in the blank holes.)
So Is this possible??

I would have to say yes you "probably" can but I have never done that one. I have taken one like yours out and installed the full gage set before though. I don't remember all the details but it wasn't too hard.....the speedo and fuel gauge should be straight forward not sure about the "dummy" lights. good luck

Just about anything can be done, but unless you want to do a ton of fabrication work on switching one to the other, I would not recommend doing it. The back tins are completely different and would not bolt up right and they are different depths!

I just got the old one off. I really wanted those digital gauges and to keep what I have.. Oh well. Guess we'll have to see.

yes it can be done the 3 top holes are the same dimensions on both panels. so if i follow you, you want to take your gauges out of the 3 hole panel and install them in the 7 hole panel, then install additional gauges in the bottom 4 holes. you may need to get a 7 hole lens along with the dash panel, and do a few things to get the signals to work in the 7 hole config. or just not use the 7 hole sig. spots and leave the sigs. in their original location..

nope it will not work one reason your blinkers are set up for the holes in the center not on ethier side of the center hole and it sticks to far behind the bezel so no

The blinkers would stay where they currently are (in the center hole) but are you sure it sticks out too far?

What I would do is buy a junk factory gauge setup. Then you can transfer your speedo and gas gauge over to the tin for the gauge setup, and bolt everything up to the new bezel. You would also then be utilizing the blinker holes that are in the new bezel.

Another idea is to just cut holes in the bottom of your current bezel, and mount the gauges to that one.

Im thinking on just painting the old one to match my new interior..anyone got a brand of vinyl/plastic paint they prefer?
