LS Swap Question

I recently picked up a 6.0L/4l80e setup and was wondering about the fuel setup for it. I know that I need to switch to an electric pump instead on the manual set up. Do i need a new tank or just the pump assembly? I have an 87 parts truck, could I just take the tank and lines from it?

Re: LS Swap Question

Funny you should ask. I just recently started a thread requesting an LS swap sub forum. There are a few builds in varying stages on this site. A few from every body style. You can click on my signature and read my LS swap thread and it will answer lots of your questions with links to tons of sites.

To answer your question you can use an existing tank with an inline pump. Easiest, cheapest. The pump can be nosier and some say they fail quicker because the fuel helps cool the pump in an in tank set up. Also some complain of fuel starvation problems with 1/4 and even more due to the lack of baffles found in an EFI tank. If you find a tank with a pump that fits it can be made to work by changing the pump if needed (LS needs 58 lbs IIRC).

Good luck. The LS engines are incredible.

Re: LS Swap Question

check out glocks new project. there's a ton of information there. i know i pretty much copied his parts list. pretty much anyway. he really stepped up with the research and put up part numbers and more or less documented the whole project. it's very lengthy these days but you gotta read the whole thing. it'll save you a bunch of time.
