Post Idles too fast

I have a '87 Silverado, 350 5.7l TBI with 35,000 actual miles. All of a sudden the engine is idling too fast. Reminds me of a carb stuck on about the 2nd notch of the fast idle cam. A mechanic friend recommended a changeout of the air/idle control valve. I did this but the idle is still too high.
Anyone have any other ideas/recommendations?

Thanks.
