Paint it, or leave it?

What do you guys think? New power train, air ride and big wheels, then drop the body back on how it is? Also loose the homemade rear bumper. What are thoughts on a 6.0 in it perhaps verses an old school small block. Looking for some other ideas.

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

Well, It's a '67 so in my bias opinion you really can't go wrong. Everyone's going to have they're own opinion, but ultimately it's YOUR truck. So I say go for it!

I personally would leave the paint as is too, but I'd put 15s and whites on it, bag: yes, poverty bumpers: yes, unless you're going racing and like racking your brain trying to figure out how to keep your rear tires attached to the pavement I'd keep the motor origional. But then again that's just me.

But let me reiterate: It's your truck so put your personality and tastes into it. If it was like everybody elses, it just wouldn't be "custom". Welcome to the forum!

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

Get on the road with that thing! If it were my truck, I'd keep the stock motor and tranny, maybe put on some fresh paint (in the same color), get a real bumper on out back, and be done with it. Nice truck, friend.

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

I'm no body man, but I bet a good buff job would bring out the true color of that paint.

But if you can't decide, just let me know and I'll be on my way to pick it up.

I would do the following polish it, suspension attitude like a 4/6 , make it road worthy and drive the heck out of it.

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

Nice truck either way. It is so close to being a real nice truck. I'd paint it, lower it and toss on some nice wheels. Thats just my opinion. Can't lose regardless of what you decide.

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

I'd get it road worthy and drive it for a while. First thing would be fresh brakes including wheel cylinders, MC, and all rubber lines. Then I'd drop it a little, add some dog dish hub caps. Next to the interior, then drive train, exhaust. I like the patina and would opt for that until my pocket book could stand the paint bill. Wish my truck had the original color with that kind of patina, I would leave it alone.

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

Welcome! very nice looking truck. Got any history about why it's in such good condition?

BTW, I agree with what big_al_71 said above.

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

That is a nice truck just like it is. Its faded to the same color as my 72 but yours is in much better shape. I would make it mechanicaly safe and drive it. Mine is about to receive stock height springs as the PO lowered mine by heating the coils .The springs were free. I love your truck.

Re: Paint it, or leave it?

I would leave the paint alone and drop it to the ground! Don't take it apart to paint it... you will miss the whole summer (or longer) for cruisin'

Also, LS power would be kinda cool.

So, you are the one that got that truck, stole it right from under my nose!

That thing will polish up nicely and you won't have to worry about getting a boo boo on new paint!

Go with a gen IV fuel injected engine, easy to find and you'll have the power and economy to go along with it.

My 68 with LS2 project in progress,
