anyone have this feeling?
you get angry, upset, and are fed up with everything then you go out and see the one thing you love and loves you back and you decide to go work on it and it calms you down? i did that on my 72 today..took some masking tape and went all down my bedsides and marked where all my dings are im goin to be fixing in a couple weeks... wouldnt mind hearing others peoples stories as well..lets hear them

Re: anyone have this feeling?
Anything you do that helps to refocus your thoughts and gives you a feeling of accomplishment always helps in times like that.
Several years back, I went throught a break up with a girlfriend. At the same time I was also begining a 4 year restoration on a freinds Chevelle. Those late nights and long hours spent in the garage really helped me through that. |

Re: anyone have this feeling?
I completely agree, nothing like shutting off the phone, turning on the radio and having time to yourself..... I feel like it s the only thing that does calm me down and give me some "space" from the world.

Re: anyone have this feeling?
Can relate to what you are saying. Other things besides working on my truck that I find therapeutic are mowing, doing stuff in my garden and junkyarding.

Re: anyone have this feeling?
I've been involved with these trucks for 15 yr s or so, recently I was in a wreck where a logtruck rearended my 88 GMC, well since the wreck I've been unable to work and drawing temp.disablity due to the injuries I suffered.
Well the 69 swb that I bought my son along with the 72 lwb truck for parts allows my to watch my son work on his 69 while I lend advice to him and tell him how to do what on his truck! And setting in that chair in the shop watching him really makes me feel alot better! Sorry so long..............

Re: anyone have this feeling?
I do enjoy hanging out and sometimes work on my toys . If Im really stressed I get on my zero turn mower and get busy and the stress fades away. Driving my wifes Chevelle convertible with the top down works too.

In my mind, there is no better escape from being "fed up with everything" than to use your own hands to build/restore/make/accomplish something. Years ago I used to go to the drag strip. That was also a great escape, even if you only have a mild car/truck to run. Nothing beats the feeling of being allowed to mash the gas pedal to the floor in a 350ci Chevy (or V8 anything), smoke some tires, and go full tilt with nobody in your way. Just you, the V8, the smell of burnt rubber and exhaust (and of course the clock, friend or foe).

Re: anyone have this feeling?
I agree. Leave those phones in the house. Crank up the jams. Lock the door to the garage and work. Best stress relief ever.

Re: anyone have this feeling?
I do enjoy working on my trucks, but to really relax I jump in one of my old trucks and take a cruise down an old backroads just taking it easy.
Mowing does provide some relaxation, but by the end of the year mowing 3 plus acres is not so relaxing.

I think I found out why you are angry - You own two Fords! that's the equivalent of sitting on a rat trap naked.

Re: anyone have this feeling?
ha at least they are classics though haha.. but ya took the phone turned it off tossed it in the bed of the truck and installed some parts to make the truck run a tad bit better and was thinking of starting to take the bed apart for the bed floor swap... but i decided since i had no new bolts thats it was best to wait for another dull day haha

Re: anyone have this feeling?
well i dont no if i was mad at something else but my brother brang his bike over and my cab is on a homemade cab roller and he put the bike right behind the cab so here i go need to clean garage and his huge harley is in the way so i go to move it not only does it fall over but it falls towards the cab hits the cab at the back on the bottom( me being the skinny guy i am 5,10 and about 110 pounds oh and the best part the gas is leakin out were my foot is so i slip when i pick the bike up) so im pickin this bike up and i got a couple things on my mind : holy s@#% i just dropped my bros bike, what if he comes out side and sees it ,oh cr@P ITS ON THE BACK OF MY CAB ,MY BELOVED TRUCK WHICH I HAD JUST GOT DONE PRIMERING ,and fourth the gas keeps makin me slip when i try to lift the bike ,so i guess my adrenilin kicks in and i pick the bike up and move it and after that i stopped for the day becauce i was mad that i scrathed my cab so that was fun

when my truck is running like crap because i tried to improve this or that . Getting it to run right again is the BEST feeling in the world. I did it and i did it by myself using my own two hands. Same with minor bodywork or new adding a new transmission or rebuilding the qjet or fixing the brake lines ,etc.. I know there are some on here that will say "can't wait til my mechanic finishes my truck" and that 's fine if you've got the cash, but even if i did have the cash i'd still want the satisfaction of "doing it myself!" That's something i would miss if i just sent it to my mechanic. Actually, i don't even have a mechanic. LOL
