reminds me of a similiar plate on newer trucks where the parking brake cable runs through the eye of that bolt.
really hard to see in pic but in the book theirs a bolt just like that one holding the cable for park brake, (right at the carrier member(that right name?))
the books a 1970 chassis service manual.

To me it looks like the hood plate that attaches to the hood and when shut goes in the hood release [ but someone installed a u bolt]

Just a guess... Cargo hold down eye bolt plate for inside the bed?

I've seen nothing like it on my 68 burb, which rules out that year and model...

Its that bracket that goes under the cross piece near the upright on the left front rear side top part of the other part opposite the bracket that looks just like it. It holds those 2 other pieces in place. I'm sure you know what vehicle it came from so no need to mention it.

its a hood hold down off of ? ill take a look in my junk yard of vehicles and ses if i can find one im thinking like 73-80 chev if im not mistaken.

sorry guys. didnt know all this was going on. dont know anything about it. came with parts truck. was with a bunch of parts for our trucks. could be from an old space shuttle as far as i know. probably one of the hold down plates for the tang cooler! lol just thought it was something fairly common in this element. will try to get some better pics so we can solve this. thanx for all input. rich
