Truck P/S Bracket?

Quick question. Is this a power steering bracket from a 71-72 Chevy truck? If so why won't my belts line up? I purchased the correct power steering pump and the pulley fits correctly so it must be a bracket issue I'm guessing??? I am doing a conversion on a 67 with a 327, maybe the pulley should be cone shaped?

I'm at work until 10:30 PST. When I get home I can take a pic of my 1972 GMC P/S pump and bracket. Also the pulleys... engine is a 350.

IIRC the pulley should have 2 to 3 inches of dish to push the belt out from the pump.

I think the pulleys for AC and non/AC trucks are different. I'm dealing with this issue myself.

Most of the time when you buy water pumps from auto zone they don't have the flange pressed on correctly. That throws your pulleys out of alignment. This happened to me last year.

The pulley is straight, and is out too far it needs to be closer to the body of the pump. Maybe a pulley with a slight dish inward?

My truck was a factory ac truck so this could be a cause. I am not sure what the ps setup is off of. My buddy bought it off of ebay 7 years ago when he owned the truck but he can't remember what exactly it was from. Keep an eye on this thread and maybe it'll help you out too!

Sounds feasable, but the body of the ps pump is long and the shaft is only about an inch and a half with the threads. This is what leads me to beleive the bracket could be off of a Chevy van, newer Chevy truck or something else. It is about half an inch out of alignment and everything looks correct on the pump, this is what makes me think it's the bracket.

all of the ps pulleys I have ever seen are straight with no dish.....really think it's a bracket issue.

Thanks!!!! That bracket is definitely different from mine it is flush against the block, unlike mine. This is probably the issue. Now to buy one and powdercoat it to make it look nice and shiney! Thanks C20 and Gasoline!!!

It started seeping about 6 months ago... sucks bigtime. first time I have ever had a freeze plug leak on an engine I have built. I would have to pull the steering pump out to get to it. Thought about some sort of sealer like "aluma-seal" but not sure if that would even work...

Ok, here we go again. I purchased an OE factory P/S bracket, $82 after tax, and it STILL does not line up with the other pulleys. Looks like I have one of maybe two options.

1. I could put on a coned pulley and that may get it back that extra 3/4 of and inch but I can only find multiple belt pulleys.

2. I have a 2 peice crank pulley that I could put washers in between them and it would move the outer most pulley forward.

Any other ideas?!?!?!?!?

here are some pics in progress on my conversion. all the parts and pulleys were purchased on d'bay. my water pump and crank pulley line up good. my alt. is about a belt width off, as well as the ps pump is about a belt width too. i seem to have enough wiggle room to shim both into position.

That bracket looks different then the stock one I pulled off of mine. Pulley doesn't look that far off in your pics, but probably off enough to throw the belt. I'm running an Alan Grove PS pump bracket and a pulley from Summit. My pulley sits in too close, it's running on the middle groove of the crank pulley.

I purchased the 2 groove pulley and it is coned a little so I'll try that tomorrow. I like those alluminuminum pulleys, may go that route later.
