63 c10 with power steering issues

I have a 63 c10. I recently added power steering to it. I aquired the parts from a donor 76 c10...I used a cpp bracket plate for support and a gear box,pump,lines from the donor. The power is soft as butter but my turning radius is crap. I can make wide left turns but right turns are a pain in the A$$. There is a huge difference in how much the tire comes out when turning. Is there a right way and a wrong way to put on the gear box?????I installed mine with the tires fully straight. What did I do wrong? Thanks for any input.

Turn the wheels from full left to full right and count the number of steering wheel turns. Now turn the steering wheel exactly half that amount from one end or the other. Where are your tires pointing?

do as raycow suggests and then check that the pitman arm is centered on the steering box if arm is centered then you will have to adjust the tierod ends to center hope this helps

I had the exact same problem and fixed it about 3 weeks ago, and what a difference it made. what I did was jack up the truck and turned the wheels all the way to the right, and you will notice that the bump stops are not touching, I loosened up both tie rods, counted how many turns it took for the bump stops to touch, then turned the other side in that many. I then tighten them both up and turned the wheels to the left to make sure that the bump stops on the other side were hitting. works just fine now, wish I would have done that a long time ago, it sucks having to back up to hit a parking spot.

By what you describe it sounds like you have changed the toe setting which will severely affect tire wear and handling.

Unless I missed something in your post.
