Help identify this relay
Could someone please tell me what the relay is, and what it goes to; that is located under the dash just to the upper right of the fuse panel. For some reason mine clicks whenever you turn the steering wheel. Even when the ignition is off. Turn the wheel at all and it clicks. I put my hand on it, and you can feel it. Therefore I know that is where the clicking is coming from.

Re: Help identify this relay
is it a round one that on the fuse block? If so its either the turn signal or the hazards... mine are both on the left though, one on top and one on bottom

Re: Help identify this relay
if your horn relay clicks when you turn the steering wheel that means you have a short circuit problem in your column

Re: Help identify this relay
Yup -- when working properly, operating the horn button will ground the wire to the horn relay. Sounds like your wire is getting randomly grounded when you turn the steering wheel.

Re: Help identify this relay
Check to see if your turn signal lever is loose. I had this problem, and my lever was bouncing around causing my horn to go off randomly as I drove around! (some bad looks with that one!) Turns out the the screw for the signal lever stripped out the threads in the turnsignal switch housing. So far I ve gotten away with a bigger screw and coarse threads with a lock washer under the head of screw. Drove for a long time with the horn unplugged! Just fixed the lever problem, plugged in the horn, and relay seems to be working but no noise!!
Wanted to make original post w/ a proper intro, but thought I could offer some insight right now......the rest to come soon I hope! |

slick is 100$ right on this too. I've seen it many many times on the p/30 trucks that still used this column design.
