The fuse box was bought from Autozone and powers everything for efi. The wiring harness and PCM is from a 2001 Silverado that i bought from Ebay. Cut and removed wires myself.
Truck is untuned and fast. Spins the 22" BOSS rims on the freeway @ 70mph

I am in the midst of getting a brand new LS3 (426 hp) pulled from a 2010 Camaro SS. I plan on installing the engine in my 1971 C10 but have a few questions for you:
1. What motor mounts did you use ... and are you happy with them. 2. Did you retain the factory A/C pump from the new engine ... and if so, were there any clearance issues with the stock frame? 3. Did your TH400 bolt up to the back of the new EFI engine without problems? I already retrofit a TH700-R4 to my truck and I'm hoping that the trans will bolt up to the new LS3 engine without problem. I'd like to know about the motor mounts too. I am trying to mount a '99 LS1 with the 4L60E in a '72. I removed the stock motor mounts from the engine and bolted on an adapter and the old 350 flat mounts. When I set it in the A/C compressor interfered with the frame. I pulled it back up and removed the compressor and placed a 3/4" block between the engine mount and the frame bracket and it looks a little better but I'm not sure the compressor will go back on even now.

Thats a complete and easy way to go if money is no object...as I'd think you can put it all together cheaper then what you'd pay for that kit...unless you got someone to sell you one as dealer cost.

Thats not a bad deal on the mounts and adapters. Do the newer than 68 trucks have the mounts on the frame that have the tabs for the crossbolt to go through on the motor mounts. The 68 has a bolt that goes through the stand and into the mount going toward the engine. The price on the harness and controller isn't too bad if you don't have anything from the donor already. On the AC. I used the stock compressor but built bracket out of angle iron that moves it in closer to the engine. You use a shorter belt. I also used the 6 cyl stands and it moved the engine to the rear and lower.Good luck with your project.

By the way, you need to order that kit from Fred Beans Cad, Buick, GMC in Doylestown, PA. Its only $885 there. And on my install, I put a 4l60e in also. I recommend the Doug Thorley headers if you can swing them. They're real purdy and fit great.

1. Does the GM wiring harness also operate/control the 4L60E transmission? I'm thinking about going with the new 6L80 6-speed automatic transmission and wondering if the harness will properly interact with the transmission. 2. Do the Doug Thorley headers have built-in bungs for the oxygen sensors? If so, are they low down in the collectors and does the GM wiring harness' wiring for the O2 sensors reach (or do you have to lengthen the harness)? 3. I'll try and get one today. It's just a couple of pieces of angle iron overlapped like a Z, then an end piece welded on the front to mount the tensioner, with some washer spacers.I did have to grind one bolt hole off compressor to mount it though. And some very minor clearancing for AC tubing coming of compessor will be required possibly.

The stock wiring harness and under hood fuse box and PCM controls the tranny and engine. They are all from same vehicle year and model. O2 wiring had no problem reaching the sensors in the collector bungs which come out the side of the collector toward the frame. I'll try and get pics of this also. The fuse box is kind of large, but it's got extras for fan relays and fuses, power takeoffs for truck and accessories...I mounted everything close to where it would be in a Suburban or Silverado. Gas pedal from same model also. On the headers, talk to Shon on here. He sells them at a good price and knows the number. If you use stock harness and PCM, fuse box, get a membership at ALLDataDIY.com. They have all the printouts, schematics, connector diagrams etc to figure out wiring. Any questions just ask. How are you guys connecting the kickdown/TV cables to the throttle body? I see this as the biggest problem, especially if connecting to a 700R4.
I would also be interested in the parts # used for Doug Thorley headers. |

Oops. Sorry, no good pics of AC bracket. Its so tight in there they just come out blurry. I didn't get any before I put the engine in unfortunately. I don't have a T400, 4L60e here. So no kickdown. I'm getting about 11 mpg towing a 5500 lb travel trailer and 800 lb motorcycle in bed. About 12-13 mpg without. I just picked up a D60 with 3.54 gears today to replace the 4.56's, so hopefully that will go up. Kiwi, Shon sells the headers, so does BNR in the vendors forum. Good prices too.
