Rule # 1 on this site, always but always post pictures. It makes it easier to help. Do you have access to a mig welding machine?

Re: 1966 gmc 3/4 cab help

Trying to find another '64-'66 GMC cab that is actually in better condition would be tough to find. I'm not saying there isn't such a thing, just hard to come by. Even when you think you might have found one, when it comes down to it, it probably isn't much better.

I would just repair the cab you have. That way you know you will have a goos solid cab when it's done. Plus this way you don't have the VIN tag issue to deal with.

Re: 1966 gmc 3/4 cab help

Thank you for posting a picture. I'd fix the cab you have. Your first time out and the truck will be a daily driver, I assume, this will be a great learning experience. It's really not that hard to do and the panels are readily available. A gift from a family member along with the fact that you have taken interest in the truck's going to make the family happy. Along with the guys on this forum to walk you through it, I can't see this going wrong.

Re: 1966 gmc 3/4 cab help

Welcome to the forum- agree with all the above. My advice would be to look through the threads in the Projects n Builds section. Alot of good info there. Beside the rust issues- what else do you want to do with it and what are your plans for it?

Re: 1966 gmc 3/4 cab help

there are no full floors just pieces be sure to use a support crossmemeber from door edge to door edge if you do a search and put in like rocker replacment on a 66 chevy truck you will come up with something . always remember to measure measure, and check the door gaps. I got my parts from classic parts in Kansas. The parts have been a great fit.. I do have a full rocker and a inside rocker and a front pillar, and both floor supports left side only. Try and go to 63 chevy and GMC truck parts and do a search, you can have them for 65.00 + shipping from Indy I will not be using them.

Re: 1966 gmc 3/4 cab help

I would start with the rockers and the lower A pillars (if needed) since those are kind of a structural part. Get those in where they belong and then add the floor pans from there.
