Dana 44 ?

Will 72 model hubs, bearings, rotors (everything from the knuckle out) fit on a 74 model axle? Both front axles are dana 44's. I have heard the 74 axle runs bigger u-joints in the front shafts... anybody know if thats true?
Thanks

Yes the axle shafts, u-joints and stub shafts are slightly larger on the 73 up axles but your hubs, rotors and bearings will switch over with no problems.

Re: Dana 44 ?

The axles are interchangeable. I have run 73 up axles in my 72 housing for many years. So if what you are trying to do is run the beefier axles and larger u-joints, simply install the newer shafts.

Re: Dana 44 ?

I got a D44 with 4.56's and a matching posi 14bolt full floater for 550 including the truck sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too
two weeks later a strap broke and the hook went flying and broke my nose i guess the universe really does have a way of evening itself out.

Moral of the story: I got a d44 and 14bff with 4.56's
