Just got a 65 c10, need disc brakes badly!

Hey guys, I'm happy to say that as of last night, I now have a 1965 C10 Long bed, fleetside. I've wanted one for forever it seems, and now that I finally got one, and I've had some time to drive it around and see what improvements it needs, well adding disc brakes up front is priority right now.

I will post up some pics here shortly, but it has an 8-lug rear in in, and the front is a 6 lug setup. I'm hoping to swap everything out to 5 lug. I have a 1986 GMC Suburban at my shop which were parting out, and I still have the rear end, and all of the front suspension/brake system. Would this all swap over?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Plans for the truck are to convert to disc brakes up front, bag front and back, clean up the body, and new satin paint, add hitch behind rollpan, and drive her ALOT!!!

Thanks alot! Looks like I'm dropping the whole crossmember out of that burban and swapping it into my truck. I was just getting ready to sell the rolling chassis too. glad I waited.

The front suspension is a fairly straightforward swap, as already described. However, the rear won't swap unless you weld on the brackets for the trailing arms and panhard bar.

Post up some pics of your new truck......The '86 rear differential is 1.5" wider than the original rear differential in these trucks.

Let me know if you need a power steering box adapter, or if you want to used a power brake booster other than the one from the '86.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that is a '65. My guess is a '63. Either way it is a beautiful truck.

It looks like an H052. That's the normal 3/4 ton rear for these years.

I just noticed that I said it was a 65, you are correct in saying that it is a 63. I need to stop working at the shop so late!

How does that work out? Is it a straigh bolt in, or do you an adapter for the 73-87 master/booster? I have an 85 burb that is sacrificing its 700r4 and booster/master for my 64.

Re: Just got a 65 c10, need disc brakes badly!

My power brake boosters are a direct bolt on to the firewall using existing holes, but you would have to use a different booster. That '85 booster will work on your truck, but you will have to drill holes in the firewall. Personally I don't like the looks of those boosters on the older trucks. That's why I make the brackets that I do.

And yes that rear end is a Eaton HO52. It likely doesn't have highway friendly gears in it. Very nice '63 BTW.......
