71/72 Good Quality Deluxe side mirrors? Bad chroming
Years ago I bought a set of new 72 deluxe side mirriors and they sucked very bad. I can't remember who I bought them from but the chrome quality was terrible. Started pitting and getting ruff almost imediately. Who makes and sells good quality ones?

Ryan,
I picked up a set last summer at Carlisle from the Truck and Car Shop for $25 each. The boxes said made in Taiwan. The mirror brackets were nice and shiny but the mirror head was dull. I don't know if all the vendors are like this or not.

Might call it an ELBOW. I got a pair of stainless elbows from NAPA. Yes they are'nt NOS, but they won't rust and the chrome won't peel either.

Tim do you know what I speak of? Bad chroming? I don't know how t oexplain it they where just ruff to the touch, and the mirror backing plate is very dull, almost unpolished aluminum looking. Not pretty.

I'm a die hard GMC Paul fan and bought some replacement (Taiwan) mirrors from him. The driver's side has been on for about 3 months and already has a spotty/rusty surface on it. Go for stainless or NOS or get the polishing compound out. Yet another lesson to me of wasting money trying to save money. Go for quality every time.

Sweet! I'm going up there (actually Ronan) on business twice in late March. A coworker of mine, who lives in Lakeside just south of Kalispell, who will also be with me in Ronan has a very nice '71 chevy 4x4. He was born in Charlo. Polson has to be one of the nicest places on the planet.

Yeah But I hate the snow! Polson is perfect place to be in the summer though! Awsome lake. I'd rather live in Texas this time of the year. Hey do you know Micah Mcghee? Ever been to Polson? I'm sure you have if you lived in Sou town. Seen the big tire mess on the right hwy 93 before entering Polson?

Don't know much about the mirrors, but what I do know is that if Tim Christian says he's got a set of good quality mirrors, buy them. You won't beat his word on quality, and you won't beat his price.

i will say the weather down here is much better! i can ride the harely all year round. unlike the 4 months max up north. no scraping windows, no gloomy gray for months, houses are cheap, lots of good looking women.
there is lost of bad things about living here to, but ill keep my mouth shut! i have a way of offending texas, i dont mean to so =Ox ill be in missoula at the very end of may! i cant wait. dont think ill have time to go up the flathead but that is one of my favoriet places in the world. spent many morings watching the sun rise over the mission mountains. and you cant beat those flathead cherrys!

Hey Reumster, The ones I sell have pretty good chroming the mirror backs are not as shinny as the arm though. Like you said a brushed look. In my honest opinion if I was worried about them I would go with a NOS set. I beleive I can get you a set of those also but be ready yo pay! LOL Thanks Tim

I stated that if you had any smart Oregonians; the imports would not be necessary!!!!
