VIN # Issue

Hello everyone, Ive been reading alot on the forums the last couple weeks and looking at the great pictures of all your trucks. I found a truck Id like to buy and I have been out to look it over. My problem is that I wrote down the VIN # off the drivers side door jam and Im having a hard time decoding it with the information I have found. The VIN was GM2590DZC2045B it is supposed to be a 1967 2wd swb chevrolet. Any help would be great. It also has the factory A/C on the bottom of the dash and power brakes.

Re: VIN # Issue

FYI, the factory only installed in dash air, under dash is dealer installed or a aftermarket company.

Re: VIN # Issue

Hello Wtatters and WELCOME to the board. I think you got a gmc vin there.
G= van/jimmy
m=v6
2=3/4 ton
59- cab to rear axel dimension (actualy 54 inches)
OD= wide side box
Z= fremont assy. plant
C= year 1967
2045=sequence number
B=GVW range 6001# to 10000#
If that first digit is a C instead of G then it's conv. cab 2wd.

Re: VIN # Issue

Compare that $10K to what you can get at a used car lot. I would have guessed it to be more expensive.

Re: VIN # Issue

Doesnt look bad, small backglass wasnt rare,most all early 67 were small rear windows. Looks like it's missing carpet or matt in the floor, I would do some jewing down on him if your comfortable doing so!
Oyea welcome to the truck forum, hope you enjoy it, we do...........

Re: VIN # Issue

Nice looking truck!
But the seller lost me, when I read "short wide"...
Or maybe I just need to finish my coffee.

If the seller has the paperwork to back up the "Newly rebuilt motor and tranny" statement there is no way you could duplicate that truck for 10 grand, even doing most of the work yourself.

Re: VIN # Issue

So does the 54" cab to axle dimension in VIN signify that it is truly a short bed pickup?

Re: VIN # Issue

I'm not sure yet I'm checking I was thinking 42 was short and 54 is long but I'm still checking to be sure. Also I found a gmc chassis code that was G=light duty..... but I'm not sure what year so no worries if the first digit is in fact a G
