Re: header gasket?

stock exhaust manifold gaskets if you are talking about the ones where the header bolts to the block, if not then aluminum or copper on the collectors since they are reuseable. They make the same ones for the block side but I found exhaust manifold gasket to work great, as long as they are the aluminum perferated looking ones.

I have the dead soft ones they sell at pepboys. After you retighten them for about 3 weeks they are perfict. Have not messed with them in over a year. blew 3 sets out of the regular kind. The dead soft are like 50 bucks but 3 sets of the reg are like 60.

Re: header gasket?

ok here is the trick, if you have aftermarket headers you can use the regular mr. gasket sets but use 2 on each side, sinch them down good and your problems should be good.

Re: header gasket?

advance auto has an online store like autozone that you can pay shipping to your house r have it from the website to the store for pickup and avoid shipping, or at least they did, I know autozone still does. Then there's summit, jegs, and amazon.

I have the percy's dead soft alum. collectors, or seal 4 good they call em, comes with bolts and all I tightened them once and that was it, no leaks and no retorque.

Re: header gasket?

i've always just used stock manifold gaskets, neve ad a prop! and you dont have to take the header all the way to put them on, or replace them just in case something does happen.

Re: header gasket?

In my experience the soft copper & aluminum gaskets work very well provided your headers' gasket area are flat. As I've seen with some of the cheaper headers the tube ends are simply sawed off = rough edge. In this case a pass on a belt sander does wonders.
