Re: Gas cap
Go to a local auto parts store and have them order it for you probably cost you less in the long run

Re: Gas cap
Re. locking gas caps...
What I did. Lost the key and had a hell of a time removing the old one without damaging the gas tank filler hole. Went to buy another and found out that most of them now are made by basically the same manufacturer and they don't fit good. I could remove it by tilting it and pulling on it. Gave up and bought a regular cap. If someone is cheap enought to steal it from me, I have an older one in the glove compartment. |

Re: Gas cap
Locking gas caps don't work - at least the ones from Stant won't. I put one on my truck, and the key wouldn't unlock it. googles fixes and found out how to get them off in 10 seconds.

Re: Gas cap
good info guys thanks for tunning in I bought a regular OEM type hopefully it will work good. All though with the other cap every once in a while I would get a strong smell of gas is that the cap issue or just a regular smell from the carb fuel system

Re: Gas cap
How do you get a locking gas cap off without a key. Just in case mine won't unlock.

The new one I bought to replace it I could just force it off so I returned it. If yours still works, I'd really consider either replacing it if it's old or doing away with it completely if it's at all feasable. I know it's easy for thugs to steal it or throw stuff in the tank so a locking one may be necessary in some cases. |
