Speedo cable adaptor
Does anyone know who makes an inexpensive 90 degree speedo cable adaptor. Thetruck has a 3 speed that has been converted to a floor shift and the likage crimps and eventually breaks the cable. Just curious has anybody had the same problem?
Thanks

Re: Speedo cable adaptor
Geezer, please correct me if I am wrong, but could that be a ratio adaptor you have there? I can't see all of it because the shifter bracket is in the way.

Re: Speedo cable adaptor
Yup!! About 27% diffy. Slightly offset. Enough room to help clear the speedo cable.
A better look at it for you. |

Re: Speedo cable adaptor
Just curious why you would need to turn a full 90 degrees.

Re: Speedo cable adaptor
Its got hurst Indy shifter for the floor mount shifter and the way its mounted can only figure a 90 degree turn would clear it

Re: Speedo cable adaptor
lt704--It worked great.
gregg--Do you have a full synchro 3 speed or a non-synchro first gear tranny. Any chance of a pic. With a 90 degree adaptor you might need a longer speedo cable. And apologies for us sorta highjackin' your thread. |

Re: Speedo cable adaptor
No problem with the highjacking it at least means someone is reading it. Its a synchroed 3 speed, I will have to get some pics and post them. Not worried about a longer cable its broken the last two any way lol

Re: Speedo cable adaptor
Here are a couple of possibilities.
http://www.clarkbrothers.net/right_a..._adapters.html http://www.arthurallen.com/automotive/geardriv.htm Stewart-Warner and S.S. White make these adapters too, but I haven't been able to find any webpages for them. Any speedometer shop should have units like this, but you will likely pay more than you would online. Here is one on ebay, but DO NOT buy it until you can talk to the seller and confirm that it has 7/8"-18 threads in and out and that it is 1:1 ratio (some of these units have an internal gear reduction that will cause your speedo to read wrong). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPEED...item519003b238 Ray |
