The day Swervin almost got me fired.

Seeing Mike's post about his website problems reminded me of a couple of years ago when he was thinking about closing down his site.

I had just gotten my ol sled of a pickup and was hanging out at the other forum a lot and was getting a lot of good info off Swervins site so I decided to make hard copies of everything on his site.Took me about four hours off and on and about a two inch stack of paper off the printer. My boss drifted by and figured out this probably wasn't work related and told me if I had so much free time he'd have to find more for me to do.He didn't take too kindly to it when I told him I was already working fifty five or sixty hours a week and getting paid for fourty so I didn't feel to bad about using a little of his printer paper. He went stomping back to his office and didn't speak to me for a week but he eventially got over it.

So,Mike, please don't shut down your site, think of all the job's you could risk.

Good Luck

Tom

LMAO!! Good one TOMMAY! Just a minute before I read this post I asked my boss if I could leave at 2:00 tomorrow to drive to Dallas since I've already got 40 hours in this week. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

Yeah Dave, thats what I think of too.

I guess Im at the point where I wouldn't care a whole bunch if I got fired, except for the fact that good work is hard to find. I get underpaid, no benefits, no sick days (that are paid), no paid holidays. Its a big rip off. Atleast I still have a job, Im late everyday and spend alot of time online. I do alot for this company but they dont return it. As soon as I can find new work Im gone!
I wont be on here half as much, atleast thats how it looks.

Why didnt you get fired? Is the company stickin' it to you too, and theres not awhole lot either of you can do? I know Im needed so I know it will take alot to get fired. My boss knows I wont be easy to replace (with this pay and lack of benefits) so he doesn't say much about me being late or anything. It sounds nice and all for me, but money and benefits are the key to a good job, and I dont get either

I actually do a lot of work, most of it damage control. Last minute, someone screwed something up, gotta make the customers happy. During those times you won't see me on here, but when I'm doing the tedious routine paperwork is when I log on here a lot.

I'm self-employed....I can log on whenever I want! However, I don't make any money when I'm sitting at this computer! I guess these trucks and these message boards are almost an addiction!!

Hey Mike,Thanks for asking.Yeah,Im doin fine.

Little Andy's not so little anymore,Just turned fourteen and is tall enough to look me square in the eyes.I've still got him convinced I can whip him in a fair fight but I'm not so sure. He's discovered girls so he's not around near as much, but I guess he'll live through it.

Me and the Flamin' Redhead split up but that's ok,she'd gotten real mean anyway.Last time she drove my Vette she drove it right into my rollaround tool box, thank goodness the rollers weren't locked down and it bounced away and only left a small chip on the underside of the nose where it isn't too noticeable. She said I shouldn't of left it where she could run into it.I told her I started to hang a red flag on so it'd be easier to see,but since it was already six feet tall and red,I didn't figure it would do much good.

She'd gained a lot of weight, too.Had to put helper springs on the passenger side of my ol truck to keep it level when she was ridin' with me,and when she'd hop out it would bounce so high it looked like one of them lowriders with hydraulics hoppin'down the road.

She asked me how I was gonna get along without her and I told her I was pretty sure I could hire somebody for about twenty dollars a day to lay around all day, smokin'cigarettes and complaining about everything in sight, whilst not cookin or cleaning.Iwish I could have seen her face when she read the divorce decree. She thought she'd get about fifteen grand out of me and she got two hundred a month for three months.

My old boss did eventially fire me but that worked out ok,too.I got two weeks severance pay and two weeks vacation pay and after two days the owner hired me back into a different position with about the same pay so I came out pretty good.

All in all, life is good, hope things are goin'well for you, too.

Good Luck

Tom

Tom is just an ole country bumpkin, just like me. I have read his stories before and laughed until I cryed almost. I've already heard of the flaming redhead. Figured it might come to this. Sorry to hear, but you seem to be OK with it.

I guess if you are feeling fine with the way things are going, I'm glad for you as well. Good to hear Andy is doing good too. I know the feeling with the girl thing. I've got a 15 yo son who is girl crazy too. Or is it the girls are crazy over him? I don't know. All I know is, he's on the phone constantly. It's got to the point if the phone rings, I let him answer it. It's always for him anyway, so why should I waste my time getting up.

Me, I'm doing OK I guess. Things could be better, but we all think this way, right? I think my trouble is I'm just getting old. At 48, it takes a lot to thrill me. I've seen a lot of stuff in my time, some good, some bad. It used to be more fun when younger. Heck, everything thrilled me then.

You need to stop in more and bring some of that fantastic humor you have with you. I'm sure these youngins would get a big kick out of it. I know I sure do.

Good to hear from you.

Mike
