WIW: 1972 402 BB,th400, AC, Auto GMC
I have loved putting my truck together, but I am a 4wd guy and I'm thinking about selling it and looking for a 4x4. So here it is:
1972 GMC Sierra LWB 402 BB/ th400 Factory AC Power Steering Automatic 5 lug front disc Whole cab and front clip completely one through with new rockers, corners, etc. runs and drives fine. Brand New paint (Orange/white/orange) Sierra combo. New PS pump and lines New rear sliding window New inner fenders New Black scroll OEM upolstery New cargo light New black arm rests New window inner/outer window felts New chrome door sils everything complete including smog pump. Needs: needs new bed, new carpet, exhaust Wants: engine rebuild, tires, rims My avatar is a picture of it as I bought it, before the grill, hood, etc. were put together and before all the stuff listed above were done. Thanks for any input. |

if your looking to maybe convert the truck you have to 4x4, i have a 71 frame has some rust issues but nothing that cant be fixed, will have springs and possibly axles as im swaping my 71 body over to the 68 rolling chassis that came with my truck.....let me know, ill make ya a h3ll off a deal.

Well that sounds interesting, however it is my understanding that a Big Block 402 will not fit on a 4x4 frame due to the engine being mounted further back because of the front differential, which would put it into the cab. This is why no 402 BB came on a 4x4 chassis from the factory.
If you have different info, please let me know. Thanks, Rich |

The big block will bolt right up to the stock small block 4x4 mounts,no oil pan mods needed,2wd big block pan is ok,The passenger valve cover is tight to the firewall, otherwise it is a bolt in..No problem..man i nice truck like that on a 4x4 frame..will be great looking...I say go for it..I had a 69 K/20 with a 454 4speed..and am thinking of doing the 70 4x4 blazer big block too. This is the 69 K/20 frame now...1 ton dually 4x4 dana60 front 14 FF rear..350 now due to better gas milage only..miss the bb torque....th400 205 Now if i can do it,i know you can
And this dumps too.. Quote:

i am very curious about converting it to 4x4 too as i have a 71 C-20 equipped exactly as yours. I wanted to convert it but if that doesn't work out i can always shorten the frame & bed and have a big block /factory AC /automatic short bed!
