Sway bar ideas?

Im looking for a sway bar for my 66.
It will be bagged, with tubular lowers. The lowers I have, have no provisions for a sway bar or shocks yet. I wanted to see what end-link style sway bar people are using since a stock one wont.
I've seen the brothers one, and CPP carries one, but maybe one off a newer truck would work?

Re: Sway bar ideas?

We offer two different bars that will work for you... 1.125" OD $225 shipped; 1.25" OD $250 shipped. Both come powdercoated black with all hardware.

Re: Sway bar ideas?

I've got the CPP HD one. Looks great, easy install, think it was about $125 with all the hardware. I've got tube LCAs too and my truck didn't have a factory bar.

Grind off 2 rivets off the crossmember and replace with bolts.
Weld in tab on LCAs.
Bolt up bar
Enjoy.

Re: Sway bar ideas?

the 65-72 ( i think) have one with 4 mounts similar, the newer trucks ( 73-87) have them with the end links. I am not sure about the sizes of them, but have heard a 3/4 ton from the 66-72 range are larger than half ton

6x-87 all have shell type 'bushings' @ the a-arm & frame rail. 3/4-ton & larger trucks as well as HD 1/2-tons could have the HD sway bars (most Burbs usually have them). The OE sizes were 1.0625" & 1.25".

Aftermarket bars can come either way: the shell/bushing combo or a mix (shell/bushings @ the frame; end-link/bushings @ the a-arm).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Sway bar ideas?

I have the Porterbuilt 1.125"OD swaybar and i can raise it all the way up and lay it out with no binding issues. It was an easy install also.
