How wide of tires can I put on a 15x8 rally? 15x10 rally?

I currently have 15x7 rallys up front and 15x8's in the rear. Up front I have 215's and in the rear 255's.

Id like to move the 15x8's up front and get some 15x10s in the rear.
  • What is the widest/tallest I can put on the rear on those 15x10s? I want to fill up the wheel well.
  • Can I just take the 15x8's in the rear (with the 255s) and put them on the front with no issues?

Right now the tires look tiny/small and I dont like that look.

Re: How wide of tires can I put on a 15x8 rally? 15x10 rally?

if you have dropped spindles up front you mght get a prob there with 255's im thinkin, but out back will be harder. i think its a 5 or 5.5" backspacing for the rear on the new 10" wheel, and a 275/60 probaly wont be wide enough for that rim since your looking for bigger and fatter. 295/50 is too short in my opinion if your running 255's up front...
275-60-15 or you mght have to jump to drag radials to really get the look your after, like them 325-50's they have , but they are quite pricey for daily tires if you ask me.

by the way, your truck has the perfect look IMO, id just do 275-60 in the rear and lke 235/60 up front and call it a day for now.... the 10 inchers out back would look fierce though, but personally id keep the 7's up front still, to give the back a wider look compared to the front.

thanks for the reply.

so if I can find (2) 15x10's in the rear, would you put 275/60's on there? Yea, Im just going to leave the front as is, I just want to fill up the rear with a fatter tire.

Hmm, I just looked at tire rack and it shows a 275/60 will fit just fine on a 8" rim. Do you think id see much improvement going from 255 to 275 in the rear or not hardly notice?

Re: How wide of tires can I put on a 15x8 rally? 15x10 rally?

since its your truck you'd have to notice it. its definately a fat tire on a 8" wheel.

but id be concerned running the 275 on a 10" wheel i dont think its fat enough to pull off, but have seen then them on 10 inch before, the tread isnt wide enough IMO on the 10".

for now if i were you id run the 275 on the 8". if you go to a 10" for the dish look, 275/60 prolly aint gonna do it for ya, but youll have a tire to ride on already that fits it at least. just ake sure you get that backspacing correct to tuck them and not rub

sorry to hijack.... but will a 325/50/15 fit under our trucks on the back with a 15x10 and still tuck into the fender? Thats a wide tire, and I think it would look great!!

I ran 275/60 on 15"x10" wheels for years. They look great on 10" wheels.

Not the best pic but it is the only one I have scanned in right now. If you are really interested in seeing it I can scan some better pics for you.

If you like a shorter tire, then run a 295/50/15 on the back. It should clear without much issue. The front can be a 255/60/15 or a 245/60/15 tire without much problem either. I did it for a long time on mine and my son'e trucks.

i figured the 295/50 would be too short a tire for him since he is wanting to fill the wheel well, they do look better than the 275 though with the wider tread; id definately keep what you got on the front unless you need a bit more lift, because they seem perfect to me if your going for the fat n skinny hotrod kinda look

Re: How wide of tires can I put on a 15x8 rally? 15x10 rally?

My daughters truck has 15x8's with 275/60's all around - that's is a very nice tire/wheel combo. My truck has 15x10's all around with 275/60's up front and 325/50's out back. They both measure to 28" tall.

On my truck, the back came out great. 325/50's look great on 10" rims. But on the front, I could have run 15x8's with the 275/60's and it would have looked just as good or maybe better. And it would have made the tire installer much happier - it takes some doing to get the 275's to seat on 15x10's.

Re: How wide of tires can I put on a 15x8 rally? 15x10 rally?

This is my truck. You can see that the fronts have little to no sidewall bulge. That's why I'm thinking the front might have worked better with 15x8's.

This is my daughter's truck, the only pic I have of it at the moment with this wheel/tire combo mounted - 15x8 rallys with 275/60's. Wrong bodystyle, but correct wheels and tires. Sorry about the distance, but this is all I have. 275/60's are generally accepted as the perfect tire on 15x8 rally's - nice sidewall bulge on a stock rally.

Bruiser, do you think that 325/50 would tuck into your fender without rubbing if you had a flip kit on the back? I love how wide that tire is and Im still trying to decide on my rear tire size.

325/50x15s will work if the back space is correct when flipped. I narrowed a 9" because i missed on the b/s. but 325s on 10 look sweet. Id guess 4.5 or 4.75

this is 245/60 and 295/50s on 8s &10s both with 3.75 b/s

Mine won't. My wheels have 4.5" back spacing.

Is that your truck in the first pics, the red one? If so ,I am glad to see that Jonboy was able to find a good home for it . I think tht the current tire size looks good but a 275/60 would look better in the rear but I would keep the fronts the way they are. I like the way the wheels fit it.
