5 spd conversion

What are my options to convert to a 5 speed? Drivetrain consists of a 350ci-sm465-np205. I love the durability of the 465, but i would also love to have an O.D. gear, yet can't afford a Gear Vendors. Not to worried about fabricating some parts, but would love a somewhat bolt on set up. Truck is a 78 swb.

Getrag/NV3500 or NV4500. The light duty was available starting in 88, should be plenty out there. 4500 didn't come out till 92, and mostly in heavy 3/4 ton and 1 tons.

Re: 5 spd conversion

Advance adaptors has what you need for a conversion. NV4500 is top of the line. A NV3500 is suitable for most daily and light duty drivers.

Re: 5 spd conversion

The advance adapters are way too expensive. i plan on getting a 6 bolt np205 when i do my 5 speed swap so it will bolt right together.

The nv3500 was used in light trucks, their not good if your ever going to put the tranny to work because they wont handle abuse or any tourqe whats so ever, if your nice to it an never work it ive HEARD theyll do ok but have heard of people ripping 3 of them up before forking out the money for a tko 600. The nv4500 was in the HD trucks with a granny gear an will hold up to the abuse for pulling and hard work(not racing)the nv4500 is the trans im going to put in my truck next summer and will have a thread about how to do it when im done.
