power steering gear box help
does anyone know what size fittings are on gear box of a 84 1/2ton 2wd? i thought they were inverted flare, like the earlier style gear boxes, but they are metric, with o-rings instead...

Re: power steering gear box help
Are you talking about the supply line (pressurized fitted line) or the return line?

Re: power steering gear box help
I went to Advance Auto parts and they had the entire hose in-stock. One side has a bigger fitting than the other. The one that goes into the steering box is the smaller of the two. The part was $17 bucks. That's your best bet rather than fiddling with an old one. That line has to hold a lot of pressure.

Re: power steering gear box help
18mm x 1.5 o ring, is the correct size. The return is 16 mm x 1.5 o ring.
