I sold my autometer gauges to BlueBeard and haven't gotten me a new tach dash yet so I threw my old gauge setup back in. Question is how do I hook up my temp gauge? Do I just plug the sending unit wire onto one of the posts in the back of the gauge or what? Also, what about the altenator? I converted to a one wire alt. awhile back. Help! I hate driving around to much without a temp gauge. Thanks!

Does it still have the printed circuit? If so you just place it over the posts and tighten the nuts. A one wire alternator should have no effect on anything.

place what over the post, the wire from the sending unit? There are a total of 4 posts on the back of the temp gauge 2 of which the printed circuit go under, then one of the top and bottom of the gauge. Does it matter which post? Thanks for the quick response.

Is it still the original guage? If so the printed circuit should have two holes where the posts go through, then two nuts screw down over the printed circuit. As far as the sending unit wire unless you've added it the factory guage should get it's signal from the printed circuit and a green wire from the sending unit. I don't have a wiring diagram with me right now so I am not sure about just plugging in the wire to one of the posts. But if you still have the factory plug that plugs into the back of the dash then that should be all you have to hook up for the guage to work. Maybe this will help.

The temp guage has 2 pins, the one pin is power and the other pin goes to the sending unit on the block. If you had the autometer guage running off the sending unit, the factory guage should work as well. The ammeter guage works off of the main power supply of the truck, so it should still work with the one wire alternator, unless you did some drastic re-wiring

no drastic rewiring. But again, there are 4 posts on the back of this original gauge. 2 on the East and West side that the printed circuit go under, and 2 on the North and South that do not. Which is power and and which is for the sending unit?

With the printed circuit attached to the two posts, you should be all set. The other two posts are not used for hook up. If you have the green wire hooked to your sensor, the guage should work.

The green wire running from my sending unit went directly to the Autometer temp gauge so that means that the sending unit wire must "tie in" somewhere to the original wiring harness to work with the printed circuit, right? but where?
