need your expert opinion

Ok so my new fuel tank and sending unit finally came in, and it turns out, the sending unit appears to either be the wrong one (it's labeled correctly on the packaging) or it's for the passenger side....on the OEM unit, the 2 ports point inward toward the frame, with this tank, once installed, the ports point outward.

My question is that is it going to cause any problems down the road if I just make my fuel line loop a bit to make the turn? I don't want to cause kinks or anything down the road, but I don't want to go through the hassle of doing the whole return thing (got them from RockAuto)

Let me know what y'all think...my thinking is that as long as it isn't going to kink it should be fine, but i'm sure someone out there has had the same issue.

Thanks

Re: need your expert opinion

It will likely be ok but I would just get the right unit if it was me.

if it didn't involve shipping it back to Indiana, I'd probably get the right unit as well...but if it's not going to cause any issues, then i'm just going to run it like it is.

Re: need your expert opinion

I ordered Spectra Premium unit FG05H, but it appears that part #FG05E (listed as p/s) may be what I need. Can anyone confirm this? I've emailed rockauto about the issue to see what their response is. I'd hate to return the one I have only to find out that the one listed for p/s is also wrong.

Re: need your expert opinion

correction...I did a little more sleuthing, they actually sent me part #FG05E, which is indeed for the passenger side...I will be returning this for my correct part.

*edit:

Top notch customer service on RockAuto's part...I called them, verified my problem, emailed me a pre-paid fedex slip and said once they scan it into their system, my new part will be on the way...hopefully I can get this thing installed pretty soon.
