Original Electric Wiper Motor?(1956)

I scored one at a junk yard last week. I disassembled it for cleaning and any necessary repairs(couldn't get the motor to work). I can't get the armature free from the outer motor housing. Not sure if it's stuck in the bearing or does it have to come apart as a unit?

I guess pesistance pays off. Turns out the armature has a ball on the end of the shaft. It is held in by a circular spring clip. it took more force than you would think to pull loose for fear of breaking something. Other than the springs in the brush rigging eveything else looks good.

Well that feeling of accomplishment was short lived. I was talking to a friend about the springs for the brushes and he said "you know that ball is accually the bushing and was not suppose to come out" Turns out he was right. Problem know is the ball will not go back without MAJOR surgery. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
