Early 60's gmc 930 idf help needed...

I recently got an old early 60's gmc 930 flatdeck. The id on the door frame says:

Model C93603
Serial 0C93603608195B
Engine C494584

The truck has straight 6 and 4 speed standard.
The bit of info I found here the serial breaks down as:

0 C 93603 6 08195 B

0 1960

C can't remember

93603 Series\model

6 six cyliner

08195 production number

B GVW 6,000 to 10,000

I still not sure of the year and the engine id. 292??

The more I know the better chance I can get the previous registered owners name from ICBC up here in BC, Canada....

I believe Canadian GMCs had Chevy engines. Surely someone will correct me on this if I am wrong. If the truck is a 1960, this means the engine is most likely a 235 (a US GMC would have a V-6). GVW 6000-10000 means the truck is a 3/4 or 1 ton. 8 lug wheels would confirm this. Could you possibly post a pic of the truck and the engine?

Quite right Ray, Canadian GMC trucks came with Chevrolet drive trains.

Thanks for all the info. Heres some pics. I'd like to fix up the outside of the body so as not a heat score. I have a 1983 1 ton chev cab I could put on this frame but the 1960 cab is so cool! Paint it another color though

Welcome to the site Caruboo from a former BC'er
Lots of good stuff here
great lookin' truck you've got, looks like rust in all the usual places,no worries, replacement panels are available for darn near every part of your cab, with exception of A and B pillar and roof. They do make the filler piece between the roof gutter and windshield, but any I've seen with this problem have rust on the interior side too.
If your windshield isn't cracked, take good care of it,good ones(pilkington or imperial)are hard to find and expensive when you do find one (I,ve heard the repros dont fit very good)and make sure your new rubber is a GM part(about $40) not a repop.
I think it would go great on a later 4x4 chassis(there's info here on that too)
Don't forget to check out the Canada section too.
Have fun
