Bowtie in the bed?
I am thinking about putting this in the bed. I may route around a pattern and stain it darker that the rest of the wood. What do you think?

Re: Bowtie in the bed?
I just saw you are in Amarillo, I used to live there and still have family there.
By the way, that is where I bought my 1965 truck in 1995, and it has the Plains Chevrolet letters on it just like yours, small world eh? |

Re: Bowtie in the bed?
ed70, I'm thinking just the outline in orange. Maybe 1/2 wide and 1/16" deep. I may use white oak with a clear finish. The truck will be orange and white.
1999corvette, It is a small world, I used to live in Mesa when I was a kid. I have family in Tucson and Scottsdale. This is a great area to buy old trucks. Not too much rust. I bought mine in Sunray. It has been there and eastern NM for the last 46 years. Plains chevy is still in business.

Re: Bowtie in the bed?
I like your thinking but sometimes less is more... And, this would definitely be a lot more work, but what about a bunch of smaller bowties along the length of each board as opposed to one large one. It would be a little more subtle and the bed strips wouldn't interfere with the logo. Just an idea???

Re: Bowtie in the bed?
i like the idea of staining the wood darker as the outline.. (light stain with dark stain bowtie) would look subtile and the trim interfering i think would look good... but its up to you good idea regaurdless i say go for it and post pics...

Re: Bowtie in the bed?
Having all the bed strips making it look cluttered or busy is a concern. Maybe some small bowties that are routed in with slightly darker stain or no different color would be the way to go. Thanks for the input.
