Header problem - contacting control arm

Has anyone seen this problem; new Hedman pipes in my 69
C10, driver side header contacts the rear of the bottom control arm. It also has a tube that seems to fit too tight to the block. Totally stock truck except for some 2" (I think) lowering coils.

Re: Header problem - contacting control arm

Mine did too... a ball peen hammer and a couple of well placed whacks on the header tube fixed it.

Re: Header problem - contacting control arm

Thanks for the reply, sorry I didn't answer sooner but have been busy otherwise. Initially I considered some 3/4 headers, guess that would have saved some grief. Wish I could get a pic light enough to put on here, there is VERY little room for #5 plug service and one tube is so tight to the block that I cannot run my wires under like I want. Contacted Hedman via email but no reply

I had similar issue with my '68 C20, was hitting the clutch linkage and the control arm. Had to take a torch and hammer to it. Eventually the tube cracked from where I wailed on her so I dropped the header out, cut out the bad section, then welded in a piece I had pre-bent at a shop. That was about a decade ago.

My '72 C20, which I have now, has similar issues with Hedman headers. The headers are contacting the frame and rubbing against the brake lines. Very bad deal. They came on the truck and I am looking into better-fitting alternatives. Also annoying is that I can't access the #2 and #3 plugs without dropping the headers off.

Anyone have a set of headers that fit just right? Was thinking of going to shorty huggers, but I like the classic full length look.
