Rear Disc brakes
I was curious if there is a kit out there to put rear disc's on our trucks? or if you could take a late model silverados rearend and put that in? and change it to 5 lug?

Number of kits out there.......just a few keystrokes away. Do a search for "rear discs" or similar......advance search for "titles" only......lots will pop up.

I sure do....it's right in the D52 thread, post #32. That gives a basic parts list and the projected cost of the installation of all 3 rear disc brake conversions that I sell. When you purchase one of my bracket kits, they come with a parts list with part numbers.

I'm going to do one of these kits at some point... but it has to have a parking brake though... so I guess that means Astro?

If you need a parking brake, you'll want to get the '76-'78 Eldorado rear calipers. They are basically a D52 style caliper with the parking brake mechanism.

I heard you can just pull the disk brake system out of a six lug Yukon or tahoe and, with a little persuading, fit it into an older truck. I'm not sure how true that is but, I thought I'd toss it out there.

You can use the front disc brakes from a '88-'98 light duty 2500 on the older trucks with the correct conversion parts. I do believe that the Yukon's and Tahoe's that have 6 lug hubs are 4wd, so that wouldn't work. The one thing w that will work from those is the brake boosters. They will bolt up with the booster brackets that I sell.
