Where in the heck can I get a new oil pan for my 250L6??

I can't seem to find anyone on the internet or eBay that has a NEW oil pan to fit my 1967 250 inline six. Anyone know where I may find one?

Try Cliffords. Ithink maybe www.cliffordsperformance.net ?

or

http://www.sixbangerparts.com/home/

Or if you're looking for stock check the parts Board here.

Re: Where in the heck can I get a new oil pan for my 250L6??

The reason I need a new one is once I had it hot tanked it has so much rust it's not WORTH trying to repair..

Have you checked with the people on the parts for sale section?

Well if you have to have new, try the dealership. They still sell
brand new GM Goodwrench 292's (made in Mexico)

If you just need a used replacement, place an add in
"Parts wanted" here. (Sharpie, Ya got one?)

or the local junk yards. There's two 250's I know of sitting around here if you'd like me to pull one of them for Ya.

Re: Where in the heck can I get a new oil pan for my 250L6??

The problem with this one is after it cam out of the hot tank, there was so much rust and almost rusted through spots it's not worth cleaning out, and I don't think I could even get it clean enough to be comfortable using, I wouldn't want a few missed pieces of rust or dirt to get in my rebuilt engine. Not sure if a junkyard would have one thats not rusted on the inside, and I can't post in the WTB board

If you pay the $25 to become a subscribing member you can post on the parts board. It might just save you the $25 when you buy a used pan on the board.

Even though you aren't a subscribing member you can post in existing threads on the parts board. I didn't go through these threads but you may want to post and see if they still have the oil pans:

Oops... I'm wrong. I was looking at the V-8 4.8/292 not the L6 4.8/292
Can't find a new L6....

But,according to Leo Santucci's book (which is a few years old)
Gm still makes a new inline 4.8L/292... Part number 10121028

I might have a donor locally, if I had the pan powdercoated INSIDE and out, do you you think the powdercoat on the inside could cause any unforeseen problems in the future?

Nevermind, if it got dented on the outside it might shoot a flake into the pan..

Yep, I would just have it hot tanked at a local machine shop & paint or powder coat the outside.
On a good pan there should be no rust on the inside because it shouls be coated in oil.

Re: Where in the heck can I get a new oil pan for my 250L6??

Be careful using a 292 pan on a 250.

250 = 5 quart system.

292 = 6 quart system.

Re: Where in the heck can I get a new oil pan for my 250L6??

I can't see any problems with using an old oil pan. I've cleaned up many using all sorts of methods and never had a problems. I never have coated the inside of an oil pan though. It seems to me that the oil bath in combination with the interesting mix of gasses that get in there are just asking for an unexpected breakdown of and coating - even powder coat.
