gas door fillers

Is there any one that makes a filler panel to weld gas door opening up? I bought a 85 bed with two doors and its going in my 73 with the fuel fill in the bed floor.

I saw one guy, who moved his tank (and battery) to the bed, mount the remote battery terminals behind his factory gas door...thought that was pretty neat.

Ive opened another can of worms. My bed is a bondo/6 layers of paint. so when the bed comes off i can prep and paint the back of the cab. New decisions as for paint colors/quality... GAAAAHHHHH.

Hey, If you cut them out...I could use one of them....lol. I have an 86 that someone moved the tank to the right side and put an older fill with the cap on outside of the bed. I am want to put a fuel door on and just add a 2nd tank back on the left while restoring. \

Even if you take the whole gas door/tube? What else do you need to do?

I'd cut an area of certain dimensions out around the door. Then go to the junk yard and cut an area out of another bed with the same dimensions plus a half inch all around either further forward or aft of the door. Then I'd joggle the edges around the hole I cut when I took the door out. Then cut little paper punch holes in the patch I got from the junk yard. Then I'd lay the patch in the joggled area I made in my bed side where the door was and weld it in, spot welds where the little paper punch holes are. Then I'd blend it in with filler, prime, seal and paint. Door was never there.

on a customer truck we just used the original gas doors, we cut out what was behind them, and just pretty mch used the skin of the doors, it was a wider gap, but use a backing plate and some weld-thru primer, and it makes the welding easy. and looked good afterward, i think i have some pics somewhere, i'll see if i find em..

you can use the stock door to weld up just take out all the filler stuff.. make sure you are really careful welding this area it is really prone to warping! so go slow! you can also make a filler panel pretty simple for stuff like this. i just make sure my hands are a little dirty then i get a nice thick piece of paper then tape it around the area you want to trace then rub your finger around the edge of the door opening then transfer it and cut.

well if you were to weld the door you would still have to weld another section where the little grove is at on the bottom, get what im saying??

if you are talking about the finger pull area just cut a slice in the middle, hammer and dolly it out flat and then weld it back shut. i hope that sound clear enough.
