This is one of things that everyone will tell you that there is no substitute for cubic inches. I agree for sure, especially if you are looking for maximum performance in a heavy truck. However, I ran a way bored out 283 in my 57 Belair for years, huge cam, Torker intake , 750 Holley the works. It was an absolute screamer, after 3000 rpm. My buddies 350 4 speed nova was no match 1/8 mile, but in the quarter he would fender me every time. Great engine, great fun, but no match for the bad 350 on my 63 for sure. That being said, It's yours, build it and it will be cool as all get out. You can't beat the visual awe of a blown engine!!!!

my buddy took out his 4:71 350 for a 600" this year. i almost had him talked into puttin the huffer on my kids 283 just for shyts and giggles. now it's goin on his dads 55 tho . nuttin like poppin the hood and seein a trash compactor on top at a show
