I'll be doing cab mounts for the first time on my 70 step, and was wondering if it's as straightforward as it seems and are there any tricks anyone knows thanks Rick

Re: Replacing the Cab Mounts

No oldblue I bought a urethane kit with all bolts.washers.etc.The mounts are so bad you can turn them with your hand so PB blaster won't help bot a cut off wheel will I was wondering if the gastank has to be removed to do the rear mounts? Rick

Re: Replacing the Cab Mounts

Hi, You don't have to remove the gas tank for the rear, the rear bolts screw in from the bottom, if I remember right. Good luck taking out the old front bolts.

if you go to lmctruck.com and go to the cab mount section on their online catalog it will show you a pic of how each piece fits in

Re: Replacing the Cab Mounts

FYI, most of the front bolt head were tack welded to the cab from the interior. Try removing the nut first, then you can break the tack to remove the bolt...

Re: Replacing the Cab Mounts

Compare the new spacer sleeves to the originals to make sure they are the same length.

The factory front ones on my '67 were shorter than the rear but the kit I got came with the same size for the front and back.

I didn't catch it until many months later when I couldn't get the front end to line up correctly with the cab and doors. Luckily I still had the originals in a box and realized what I did.

Re: Replacing the Cab Mounts

Just replaced my cab supports on my 72 and like My67truck said they were spot welded in and they were a pain to get out.I had to take a ziz wheel and cut down in the bolt head trying to keep from cutting the floorboard.
