Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
This weekend I stripped everything off the engine of my 1987 V2500 and cleaned and painted it. Sandblasted all the brackets and pulleys and air cleaner and will paint them this week. Then I pressed in the front spring bushings. I figured it was easier detailing the engine while the front end it out. The engine was a GM crate motor and has about 60K miles on it so it was pretty free of greese just dirty.

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
Spent another weekend working on the house. I did manage to sneak away for a couple hours so I could replace the Heap's transmission mount. Did the swap at a friend's shop on the lift. Nothing like standing under your truck to make repairs!

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
I got a chance to clean up the 12 bolt I picked up this weekend and ordered all new C5 rear brake parts so I can start another rear brake conversion. Spent a few hours in AutoCad laying out the design.. Now just waiting for FedEx. Installed my cleared factory side marker.... rattle can'd a fender that was really faded.. thats about it..

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
Didn't get a whole lot done, I had other stuff going on...I got my sending unit mounted in my new gas tank, but I didn't get a chance to mount it because i'm replacing the gas tank straps, and getting the factory rivets out is a b*tch, and I didn't have any right size replacement rivets, or bolts to put the new ones on the brackets...won't get to work any more until possibly next weekend, as i'm on late shift this week...bummer

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
I got something done yesterday, didn't do anything to the truck today. I had the B-52 kit on backwards, so buddy and I spent couple hours doing that yesterday. Got the bumper mounted, bed sorta straightened out. Still have a loooooooong ways to go yet.

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
Finished up, and installed the rear cab panel I built...VERY pleased with how it looks. With it in, the speaker brackets painted to match...it really ties well together. Also designed and built some alum brackets for mounting my Autometers behind the bezel, hope to have that buttoned up by the end of the week. Also picked up (well had delivered) a 67-72 cab, started a template for 6x9 corner brackets for that bodystyle...hope to have that done soon too. I also went to a friends house to celebrate their daughters 1st birthday. And the best thing that happened this weekend...both of out 4 month old boys were taken off their premature growth charts and moved to regualar growth charts! They were 8 weeks early, and have now caught up will all other 4 month olds! BIG news for us. They are happy and healty little fellas!

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
picked up a wrecked z28 convertible last weekend to rebuild for my soon to be wife. Picked up a brand new left fender and nose for $100 bux off craigslist, and a same color hood that doesn't have to be painted for free. working a deal on a parts car so I can cut the core support and fender aprons off. then I can send it out for a new top after I paint the nose and fender. runs and drives great, clean interior. should have 2500 or less in it when done. paid $850 for it.

Clay bar'ed my truck then gave in one heck of a wax, looks great. Also up in ontario the is a big car show in Bothwell ON. This years "feature" vehicles were TRUCKS any year, preferably 90 and under. plus all other classics. This is the first time i have ever been in the feater class, and i gotta say it was cool. A whole feildy area devoted to trucks and el caminos. A few squares, 15 or so.. sorry no pics, except of mine. Even got a plaque... for the first 1000 there. not an award but still killer.

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
well I worked on my 79 gmc put the new seat in, sealed and used self tapping bolts to attach the hump inside the converted cab. also swapped in some blue seat belts in the place of the red ones. Also moved the blue 83 chevy to get it ready to be picked up by its new owner. sold the topper off of the 78 chevy and gave it a bath.

I finished the painting of the rear end and the leaf springs then removed the chrome handles on the side of the cab. killed a 12 pack then retimed and tuned the 357 and fell asleep on the couch early lol. all in all a very productive day

put some new valve covers, welded up some exhaust pipe, putting plans together to get the bed back on from a board member here. oh yeah, got rid of the wasp nest they had managed to build at the rear of the cab

Re: What did you get done 8/9/10 ( hey its a sequencial day) edition
I started to give my truck its offroad paint job, after its just mainly a trail rig i didnt want anythign to shiny and hard to patch.
I also pulled the carpet out, and to my surprise there was no rust at all on the floors. So i herculined the floors. |
