Burb is in the ER on Support

Well,
Earl (ebfabman) has the burb in his new shop on the table. He put on his gloves and started on the old girl. Here are a few pics of whats going on. 1. Shows the burb before surgery, 2. On the table.

Next shows the floor hump repair, as you can see, this is what happens when sheet metal repair goes wrong, good idea (kinda) but this was super unsafe. After shows Earl and his magic, lastly after the patch was put in, you cant even tell it was missing....

Next is the rear quarter repair, this is not finished yet, but I will post more when its done. After the quarters are done, he has some dents to fix and some more floor work to patch. Awsome work and its well worth the wait. Got to let the brown truck bring in some patch panels to complete the rear quarters.

1st set of pics show what we started with, bondo maniac was on the loose and found my burb.

I got alot more pics that I will post but this is just the start. Front kick panels are hurting and the lower A pillars need help too, but overall this is one Solid Burb.

Just in case you havent seen his magic, Earl is the "Man" and there wont be any Bondo put back into his repairs......

Well,
Got some more work done on the rear quarters, looks like that the bondo was just for small fender bender stuff, nothing real bad. As you can see the structure looks solid, the pic before the last one, is that five year old sheet metal or 40 year old sheet metal? You go to love the southwest conditions....

I have a set of his videos when they first came out. Have helped me tremendously,but i will never get that good!

i might suggest some weld-through zinc primer before welding in the patch panels. but definitely a beautiful job!

Were going to clean up everything and make sure all the metal is protected,, want it to last another 40 years....

The burb is back home and now its time to start mocking up the interior and looking at drivetrain options. Earl has to do just a little more on the left front behind the driver door and well get that done this spring. I will take some shots of the finished work this week.

any kind of idea what this kind of repair costs from an expert artisan? I am trying to budget something out, but have no idea...
