ive called around trying to find one of those mobile glass services to remove the windshield and rear window from my old cab and to install them in my new cab.

no shops will warrantee the front windshield from cracking as its obviously old and used (i understand their stand on that)

i found a place that will remove and install my rear window and front windshield for $80. however if the windshield cracks then ill have to buy a new one for $133. bringing the total from $80 for labor up to $213. he said they wont have any trouble with the back window cracking

so heres my question
1. is this a fair price?
2. what are the chances of the glass cracking? my glass appears to be pretty damn new, not original.
3. do i have to buy new molding or can the old molding be reused? its current state is good, not dry no cracks, looks fairly new.

i figure im going to tell the guy ill slip him an extra $30 if he can get the old windshield in without cracking it so hell have a reason to try his best lol.

Yes, thats a good price. I worked in glass for about 10yrs, & will say that the 67-72 is a nasty windsheild to set. When I do 1 , I cut the rubber on the back side & lift it out......just figure on a new seal when its set. No shop will guaranty a used front glass, but .......if they break a new one(that is theirs) , its their's! The rear glass is not a problem to install, its tempered & to break it you would have to ding the edge on something solid......crazyL

crazy, would you recommend i purchase a new windshield rubber?

how about the rear window, reuse the old one or buy new rubber?

The rear glass /rubber shouldnt be a problem......if its not cracked/split , I would use it. On the front, i wouldnt mess with trying to remove the glass & save the rubber....fresh rubber sets better, & is only about $50 vs the price of the glass....crazyL

70 c 10 has a good point.....clean your glass good , both sides.....if it has any scuffs at all, now is the time to replace it

On a resto or rod, clean fresh glass really adds to beauty !crazyL

Have you considered doing it yourself? I did mien with the help of my brother and it wasn't too bad.

ehhh if the pros have trouble cracking windshields sometimes them im really against trying it myself lol. i prefer tackling the stuff i can redo or have fixed if i mess it up. unfortunetly this isnt one of them.
