Cold air Intake

I've seen some pictures of people running a cold air intake on their 350/305's anyone know where I can get ahold of one or does anyone have an info on how they built theirs? Thanks in advance.

Re: Cold air Intake

My buddy began to put a cold/ram air on a 90something before his trade fell through The hood looked like this http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=59 the ram air look one, he popped out the plastic covers on the hood and was building ducts before he had to give it back but it would've worked had he finished it

Also you could run a duct down under the bumper and bolt it to the bottom of the bumper or cut a hole in the air dam and mount the mouth there

Re: Cold air Intake

i am thinking that running it to the two circles that are precut on either side of the radiator would be the route to go. Anyone have any examples of that. I may have to put my fabrication/diy hat on.

Re: Cold air Intake

That was just what I was going to suggest! I think the hard part would be finding a breather and filter probably using a cone filter and a procharger style carb/tb mount

Here is a suggestion/beginning point I've seen this work on a few cars and the nicest one I've seen was a cooking pot a guy stole out of his wifes kitchen

Re: Cold air Intake

I'm wondering if I could put in an inline filter box on like what they put in cars just cut out on either side and clamp the air duct to either side. I think I may have just found my next project.

Re: Cold air Intake

that is exactly what i was looking for you read my mind. I think it would be possible to just mod an existing round air cleaner.

Re: Cold air Intake

Stock, mild, wild? If it's stock a stock style air cleaner would work but I would suggest one that will breath better

Re: Cold air Intake

ya its stock off the line stock to be exact. I've found alot of items I just need to go to the parts house and find the appropriate tubing to get it to where I need it to be.

Re: Cold air Intake

I would prefer the actual L69 box, since here in CA all the smog stuff has to be there, and it would look more like factory.

Re: Cold air Intake

anyone find a kit for sub 100 dollars I can't justify the 250 buck price tag. I think I may check out the local parts shop and salvage yard to see if i can find a way to build one.

They're all expensive if you buy one. A lot of people buy another stock air cleaner from the junkyard to rob the snorkel off of and weld it up to their stock air cleaner, then it looks factory. like the olds unit above.

Re: Cold air Intake

I think a trip to the local junkyard might lead to something less expensive.
