I bought a 1985 Chevy Sierra 4x4 today for a parts truck for my 1992 Chevy and 1987 GMC. I plan on putting the cab on my 1987 and the trans and differential in my 1992 as well as the tires (they are new) and rims if they fit. The truck cab is OK but needs cab corners. The drivers door is like new and the pass is dented but no rust. The 8' box has two rust through spots behind the wheels and a couple under cross members are rusted but the tail gate and rest of the bed is in pretty fair shape. The 700R4 trans and differential have been rebuilt. The engine is there but is in pieces. The cab A/C works and is in-tack. It has an aluminum tool box which is also in good shape and he also has a new dash cover. I paid $900. Now I have to get it home.

When I got the title I found out it is a 1996 not 95. The 700R4 trans has 40K miles on a rebuild and the differential is a possi and has about 10K miles on a complete rebuild. The total of both were $2,300 according to the receipts. I should pick it up Friday as I have to get a flat bed and winch it on.

I picked up the parts he took off the engine as well as the new dash pad. I will pick up the truck on Friday. The dash pad turned out to be an original GM pad. I looked up the part number (15641405) and was shocked at the price which is over $400. The carb is also a rebuilt part as well as the alternator.

Is it an '85 or '95 (or '96???).
If it is an '85-86, I am not sure if the tranny will work on your '92. I am almost positive that the transfer case will not (driver-side drop vs. passenger side) so that make me wonder about the tranny too.
