A/C Options on my 68

Gents,

I have a 68 SWB C/10 no AC. What are my options to put AC on this truck ? I have seen the vintage air ones but i just dont like how the plastic outlets look in the bottom of the metal center dash . My question is.

Can i buy the vintage air system but instead of using the bottom plastic rectangular outlet for the air, can i swap out the whole center metal dash panel for an AC metal panel and connect the AC hoses to the original outlets that are installed in the old dash ?

How hard will it be to find a complete AC unit and install it, aside from changing out the metal dash panel do i have to cut any thing in the firewall or any major modification to the cab ? Has anybody done this before or have a write up ?

Just cut your dash for A/C. I bought the air outlets and put them in my non-air dash.

Im definately gonna go with aftermarket. I know they have the complete kits, but as far as installing, the only modification i have to do is cut out the vents in my dash ( too keep it original ) or buy a new dash with air vents and re use those ?

I did mine by myself in a parking lot at an apartment complex. Fun. I had a shop evacuate and fill it. They said I did a great job, no leaks. 3 years and it still blows ice cold.

I just installed the Oldair kit in mine, but didn't use the indash vents. I didn't want to cut it so I got their underdash outlets. The whole set was less than $50. Still have the indash parts. Their instructions leave a little to be desired, but you can figure it out as you go.
