SB to BB conversion?

I'm about to drop a big block in my 71, which originally (and currently) has a small block in it. Do I need to change the frame mounts or move them? An old guy around the corner from me said that A-body headers fit better than truck headers. Anybody have any expierence with chevelle headers??

Thanks!!

Re: SB to BB conversion?

When we did mine we had to use newer big block mounts and towers, I think they are the ones that came with the '73 454 to be able to use the unknown hooker headers I picked up at a swap meet.

I have a '71 C-10 that has a granny low 4 speed and did not want to move the transmission because I did not want to have to change the length of the driveshaft. We lowered the engine in and mated it up with the transmission and let it settle in then drilled new holes on the frame. It worked out real good with plenty of clearance at the firewall and just the right amount of distance between the fan clutch and the radiator.
