60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
Ive been pondering the idea of fixing up a truck old fashioned. old slots or 15x8 rockets or some old style mags or something as well as other mods that were done to our trucks back in our trucks hey-day. (thinking about doing this to a 68 chevy shortbed. Do any of you guys have pics or old magazine articles or anything like that that shows our trucks fitted up with mods from the 60`s and 70`s?

Re: 60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
That's the vibe I am going after. Bought the truck and added the slots and BFG's. Getting there.

Depends on how crazy you wanna go?
Somethings that cross my mind: 1) Wheels - Cragers, Slots, or Torque Thrusts 2) 8 track players 3) Gun Racks 4) CB Radios 5) Raked stances 6) Ladder Bars 7) Ladder Racks 8) Luggage Racks 9) Bed Rails 10) Hood Ornaments 11) Column mounted tachs 12) Oh yeah, Crazy metal flake and pearl airbrush paint

Re: 60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
I don't know how extreme you were thinking, but I was thinking about doing some lettering using some 70's style fonts.. not too wild like "that 70's show" but I am trying to find picures from the early to mid seventies of drag race or slat flats racers (well, really pictures of trucks in the background) for some ideas..

There is a stepside around here that is white with a blue panel paint job. At first I thought it was ugly... now I kinda like it.

Re: 60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
I think the hard part is that trucks were not really a big thing to customize back then... alot of vans though, but trucks really didnt hit the scene big till the mid 80's

Re: 60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
The whole hot-rod truck / mini-truck thing didn't come on till the mid-80's....when the Enkei "Saw-Blade" Aluminum rims were da' bomb! The 70's were dominated by the "Shaggin' Wagon" vans with the shag-a-delic carpet, bubble windows, rear spoilers, flip down beds inside, captains chairs, side pipes, CB's with dual whips, big-ole-fat RWL BFG's on Slot Mags and the mural of the viking chick with big hooters riding a unicorn on the back! Yeah, baby- that's what I'm talkin' about! Open the doors and the first thing to come out is a cloud of "herbal" smoke and the sound of Foghat cranked up on the 8-Track. Oh them's were good time's yo!

Re: 60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
Long gone but not forgotten. My very first vehicle 72 custom c/20 bbc.Notice the O' so cool aluminum shell, fog lamps, mags and custom buckets out of a flat bottom boat. Here is a trivia question. Now I just noticed this when I was looking at the pic's.I've never seen the antenna on the driver side. Was that part of the super rare corvette option?Even though the pic got scanned backwards you can see it's on the drivers side.Enjoy:Bob

Re: 60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
That's the stuff, Blackholebob!!!
I've always wanted to do a 70's style push truck. It would be real cool if I had a vintage rail to go with it.

Re: 60`s and 70`s era modded trucks
The Blazer with the white "wagon wheels" is definately for real, in the early '70's. And, is this the ad you meant? It isn't much, but I got it off of this forum awhile back and may have been your pic.
