Re: anyone running a LOKAR eliminator gas pedal setup
its a gas pedal but the cable runs from the floorboard rather than the firewall....

Re: anyone running a LOKAR eliminator gas pedal setup
I would like to see where you mounted on the '72, inside and outside shots would be grand. I have the regular lokar on my '56 but trying to stay away from the firewall on my sons '67. I was planning on drilling holes in the corners of the mark for the center square a little larger then using a jigsaw to finish cutting the square.... lil nervous and dont want to mess up ... what did you use to cut the square ?
Thanks for your time!

Re: anyone running a LOKAR eliminator gas pedal setup
I have a Lokar elminator pedal in my 68 and really dislike it
They could have made a few small changes to the way the pedal mounts and made it much easier I also lose some throtle speed due to cable movement with the long sweeping cable. I am kicking around the idea of going to a 71-72 set up or one of the direct fit pedals that feeds thru the firewall All that being said I have a friend that builds street rods for a living and installs these pedals into any car he can - loves tucking everything doen low and hidden

Re: anyone running a LOKAR eliminator gas pedal setup
It's one of the parts I have stashed, along with the cables and other items.
To install it, you have to cut a hole in the floor and mount it to the floor. The cables attach to the back side of the pedal. My reason to get one for my truck is the original ball-stud mount for the OEM pedal is not any good. One of the studs broke off and the new floor pan didn't have any. I know the studs are available. I just wanted something different and clean.

Re: anyone running a LOKAR eliminator gas pedal setup
Something to think about with your floor pan - if your truck is like mine with a partial floor pan replacement you will find 2 floors or layers of sheetmetal in the area that you mount this pedal - in my case I could work around it with longer bolts, just be aware going forward
If the space is to deep between the two layers of sheet metal it will hinder the ability of the lever to stick through the floor and may affect the over all travel of the lever

Re: anyone running a LOKAR eliminator gas pedal setup
I used the later swinging pedal with cable in my '67 and it has worked perfectly since day-one. I think it is basically the same pedal/swing arm from '71 up into the '80s trucks. The really nice thing about using the stock GM parts is that you can get the cable from any car or truck of the era. They made that same cable in many dozens of different lengths.
I grabbed several from cars and trucks at the wrecking yard and the one I used was from a Cad. I am seldom impressed with Lokar installations. On the cables themselves, spending $100 on a cable and not spending any time or real thought on the mounting brackets is a waste. It isn't going to function any better than if you had pulled a cable off an old lawn mower. I'll let Chevy do my engineering before Lokar any time. A cable with pedal engineered as part of it should have taken care one end, but 1968SWBBigBlock didn't sound like he was very impressed with it. I should caution that putting a Chevy swing pedal in, is a lot easier when the engine is out. The old holes can be welded closed from outside much easier.
