Exclamation Best lowering Kit that wont break the bank

I have a birthday coming up next month and i was wondering what the best lowering kit there is for the money. I was thinking about a 2.5 drop in the front and a 4 in the rear. i want to go low as i can go without Notching the frame.

I also would like to see pics of trucks with the same stance. Looking forward to the responses.

Re: Best lowering Kit that wont break the bank

A blow torch is cheap!...kidding

I would think that getting some drop springs and some drop blocks for the rear would accomplish that with some new shocks for way under a grand (I think I saw a for sale posting from some drop springs on sale at gmcpauls where it was 96/pair for 2.5'' drop springs (maybe another site, could be wrong)). I would think that if you were dilligent enough, getting that drop for under 500 would be possible if you just went with springs and blocks. Could be wrong.

I also would like to see some pics

Go to www.earlyclassic.com

You can get a complete kit with all the parts to get it done right for a lot less than your budget.

Happy birthday!!

Re: Best lowering Kit that wont break the bank

I got this kit (with 3" front/5" back drop springs...specify when you order what drop you want) for $599. I have no complaints so far. Made a world of difference in handling.

Re: Best lowering Kit that wont break the bank

By the way, 4/6 seems to be the lowest usable without a c-notch.

Any issues with a 4.5" front drop?

Given a reasonable tire size, no.

My response was in regards to a c-notch. The lower you go, the more factors come into play. Spend a few hours on the suspension forum, or better yet, call a forum vendor and tell them what you want to do. They've done this a zillion times and can make a recommendation based on the products they sell.

Re: Best lowering Kit that wont break the bank

If you will be patient on the bay there are some deals that show thmselves from time to time if you want to go with springs. I recently lowered my 68 a little (4 in rear, started with 3 in front but it had too much rake and I just could not make my self like it so I went back to 2 in front ), simply because the 67-68 body begs to be dropped some. As Steve said spend some time on the suspension forum and read about the static drops. My truck is much firmer and still drives nicely especially for a 40 some truck. The spring kits are easy, if you are the least bit mechanical you can do it yourself in a weekend - replace tierods, ball joints and shocks at the same time- you are all ready there, might as well. If you mix and match off of ebay or the parts board, you can get springs for around $200,maybe less if you get lucky and are willing to shop for the deals, $100 for 4 shocks from kyb GR2 344068 work very nicely-thanks suspension forum for part # these can be bought at advance cheaper than the distributers :0, tie rods and ball joints $150(dont cheap out here) and a little of your time, and you are rolling low for less than $500

Re: Best lowering Kit that wont break the bank

definitely check ebay...and craigslist....I've seen the springs run around 80/pr shipped so only 160/4 springs and then get some shocks cheap (I got my front pair for my bagged truck new for $18 shipped by finding one from a different application on clearance that would give me the right compressed and open length...
