Re: gap in windshield seal

if I had an old piece, I could probably slide it in there for now. I don't see how it got that bad. Has a couple more in it that are not as wide.

The RTV or a scab piece might help, but that really needs to come out. The potential rust problems will just get worse the longer it remains unrepaired. I don't think the gasket could shrink that much, it probably turned to wood and broke off at some point.

Re: gap in windshield seal

my wifes truck had one that big, rain was hitting me in the face.
I cut a couple pieces off an old gasket I had laying around , and siliconed them in...seems to be a quick fix for now...

Mine has that gap.

I used some other weatherstrip to seal it till the gasket is replaced (this winter)

Re: gap in windshield seal

Why not just replace the seal. 25 to 30 bucks and a piece of rope could save you bigger problems down the road. Fix it right the first time and you won't have to fix it twice later...

Rut will have to be repaired and dash painted, so truck will be down for a little while.

Also 63 windshields not that easy to replace- getting them out is easy <G>
