Can some one please decode this engine for me??? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm looking at a 69 short step side and the guy is telling me that its a 305 engine but......everything looks period correct so makes wonder what it really is.

#s are 271159303 those are the numbers on the front pass side on the block right in front of the head.

Thanks not sure if you can do anything with those numbers or not.

Is there a suffix code stamped into the block close to those numbers?

Also, any chance of reading the casting number on the back of the block?
