Post Trucks on my fence

I pieced these front end together years ago. Thought I would share some pictures.

Yeah, those 58/9 GMC signals. I have gone crazy for them. I have bought and sold many sets. I do have a set I am going to sell but I can not post in the for sale section. Maybe I am too new to the site.

Re: Trucks on my fence

Seems like a waste of good sheet metal to decorate a fence. IMHO.

The GMC cameo was called a suburban, very rare duck, I mean truck.

Only about 300 made, but that yard art could've been made from all Chevy pieces and a GMC emblem and grill parts. Considering there were about 1.5 million trucks built between 55 and 59, I think we can afford to let a few parts to hang off a fence......

Looks cool, now what would be the best wheels to photochop into it....?

Re: Trucks on my fence

Hey guys, no good sheet metal was cut up. The side of truck was temporary. The bedside, fender and door were used by me or sold. The cab side came from a junk cab and was used for patch panels. Here is my real Suburban p/u.

Love the yard ornaments.

On the front ends are they tacked together?

Re: Trucks on my fence

That's a beautiful Suburban Carrier Mr. GMC! More pics would be great!

Guys I think he has come up with a way to accumulate parts and keep busybody nosey neighbors from b!tchin' to the authorities about junk in the yard! Make yard art out of the parts while they are being stored!

In that 2nd pic the GMC on the left could double mine color and patina but mine has white painted bumpers and grille. And yeah there are parts I could use on it.

In that same pic clear to the right appears to be a Fleet Option front end. Some people say the GMC "Fleeter" is even more rare than the GMC Suburban Carrier.

Very creative work, man!

Re: Trucks on my fence

Thanks guys. That 57 GMC that sold came from 57 Heaven. That truck used to be mine. I fixed it up but not restored. I sold it back in 94 when I was trying to buy my fisrt house. I had the 56 back then and it was cool with them both in the drive way.
They made a lot of Fleet trucks, just not that many left.
Here are more pics of my 56. If I had a scanner I would post pics of the 57 when it was mine. Also had a 58 Suburban P/U. It is now in Florida in a collection with the 57 GMC Palomino.

Yeah Mr. GMC I should have noted that. I'm not very knowledgable about this stuff but I imagine the Fleet trucks led a pretty hard life as a commercial vehicle and that accounts for the apparent small amount of survivors now.

Thanks for the pics but you sure don't have to stop there!

Re: Trucks on my fence

Here is a realy nice Fleet truck that was on ebay in the past. It is so original that no one added steps. They came with no steps, fender emblems or headliner. They also had fiberboard kick panels and Chevy dashes.

Re: Trucks on my fence

We had a thread not to long age about a chevy dash with GMC on it instead of the bowtie. Someone said it was a fleet cluster.

Re: Trucks on my fence

Personally I love the yard art. I'd rather se someone enjoy it rather than it rotting in a field. My buddy has a '57 Cameo. It's always a big hit. I never have to worry about my paint when I'm parked next to him.
