Clutch cylinder separated from firewall

I have a 99 c1500 with a 5 spd. Last night, when shifting into 2nd gear I heard a pop and the clutch pedal stayed on the floor. Upon inspection I discovered that the clutch master cylinder was hanging loose outside the firewall. Inside I found fragmented plastic clips.

My question is "Is this common?" and "Are these parts easy to change out?"

Does anyone have any diagrams or pics of this assembly? What is the extent of the parts that will need changed?

I guess I may need to pull the 66 C10 out of the mothballs for a few days while I fix the 99.

Sorry for the delay, the wife had me doing some remodeling projects on the house.

What I found was the bracket that mounts the clutch pedal also penitrates the firewall for the clutch master cylinder to snap into. The flanges on this bracket that hold the mc have broken off. I will need to replace this bracket. The MC itself appears to be in good condition.

To prevent this in the future, is there a way to adjust the catch/release point on the clutch pedal so that I do not have to bottom out the pedal each time. I believe this is why the MC and the bracket were under so much pressure. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The new bracket finally came in today. I didn't realize they were going to ship it via Pony Express. The replacement looks like it will be fairly easy. I will report back on the swap.
